Purchasing Manager

At CBM Ltd. we are in search for an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team in Milton, Ontario. The successful candidate will be a diligent, customer service orientated team player with excellent interpersonal skills and solid knowledge of the metal fabrication industry and suppliers. 

 

 

 

 

Job Description

Description of Position

  • Responsible for ensuring production requirements are met and maintaining accurate inventory levels based on production schedules, MRP analysis and forecasted sales
  • Handle the negotiating and maintain purchasing contracts/agreements and source new & backup  suppliers ensuring cost effectiveness and quality standards through supplier Scorecards
  • Responsible for the purchasing of Steel, component parts, consumables, packaging materials and other supplies.  Oversee stockroom and stockroom coordinator.
  • Ensure all purchasing processes, transactions and external business relationships are in accordance with CBM policies and procedures
  • Issue purchase orders and follow up on all orders to ensure timely delivery; resolve supplier shortages/overages, quality issues, missed deliveries and other issues that may arise; prepare MSO and corrective action paperwork as required
  • Coordinate materials/product pick-ups and deliveries with Customer Service/Logistics
  • Assist in the coordinate of outside services and the purchasing of custom/specialty items
  • Initiate RFQ Projects to proactively work on multi-vendor cost down initiatives
  • Assist in coordinating and tracking annual preventative maintenance and other facility maintenance services.
  • Facilitate packaging development with suppliers as needed
  • Participate in cost reduction strategies, facilitating when required.
  • Work closely with Production Control and Finance to verify packaging slips with purchase orders and review and approve invoices for payment
  • Prepare reports and make recommendations related to purchasing costs, market analysis and trends, materials ordered and received, inventory levels as well as outlining new materials and suppliers.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Materials Management or related program; CPP (Certified Professional Purchaser) Certification is an asset
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a Purchasing role in the manufacturing sector
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication processes and conversant in related machinery, tooling etc. is a definite asset
  • Expert in MRP/ERP systems and Excel; working knowledge of JobBoss is a definite asset
  • Proven ability to source and negotiate effectively  
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet production demands in a fast paced environment
  • Experience with inventory control and overseeing a stockroom
  • Self-motivated, energetic and results orientated individual who has strong organizational skills and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Team player able to work effectively with all levels of the organization as well as outside vendors/suppliers
  • Strong attention to detail and meticulous follow up
  • Knowledgeable of ISO or similar quality procedures
  • Experience coordinating logistics and knowledge of transportation documentation ie. Customs, NAFTA, Bill of lading requirements
  • Must be hands on and involved with day to day production activities
