Welding Supervisor

At CBM we have a vacancy for a CWB Certified Welding Supervisor to lead our welding team (up to 20 people). We are in search of a hands-on, skilled welder with the proven ability to Supervise and oversee all welding processes to ensure quality welds are produced meeting all specifications and standards.

Job Description

  • Responsible for throughput and performance of the Mig/Tig and Spot Welding departments.
  • To produce quality product by following drawings/work instructions, department schedules while optimizing the machines and people in the departments to meet or improve standard times
  • Maintain welding procedures and practices to CWB standards and ongoing certification
  • Train employees to set up and perform welding jobs through demonstration of welding skill
  • Make appropriate modifications to welding equipment, workstations, fixtures etc. to optimize efficiency
  • Perform quality inspections and weld tests
  • Mig/Tig Weld first off’s, prototypes, fixtures and special custom projects as required
  • Responsible for completing employee performance and training records
  • Ensure all time (set up vs. production) is recorded in the department using MRP system (JobBoss) to improve accuracy of capacity planning and tracking costs
  • Overall responsibility for the general organization and preventative maintenance of tools and machinery in the department
  • Ensure organization and tracking of all fixtures, tools and equipment required in the department
  • Responsible for inventory of all consumables in the department to ensure production flow
  • Complete all paperwork and data entry
  • Enforce and follow all safety policies & procedures; Follow all ISO Quality procedures and CWB procedures

Qualifications

  • CWB certified Mig/Tig Welder & Supervisor with minimum of 8 years’ experience in managing a department
  • Proven ability to train and manage people through effective demonstration, delegating, training and explanation of work instructions.
  • Experienced in setting up and operating Mig and Tig weld stations, drill presses, grinders and air extractors with the ability to maintain the equipment to ensure quality product finish
  • Skilled ability to Mig and Tig weld light gauge mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum
  • Good math skills are essential
  • Good computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with MRP systems
  • Strong working knowledge of all tools and measuring instruments/equipment
  • Ability to calibrate all machinery and tools
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics to ensure parts are to run according to all specifications and work instructions
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to complete all paper work and data entry
  • Ability to perform all physical requirements, lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Good judgment and the ability to meet multiple demands in a fast paced environment
  • Strong focus on department organization, efficiency and quality
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and ISO quality procedures
